Opportunities of the Week 20/03/2017
Dragon on a NCS Dragon's Den Panel – NCS The Challenge
National Citizen Service is a youth and community scheme delivered by The Challenge. This summer, hundreds of young people will take part and deliver voluntary social action projects. As a Dragon, you’ll assess proposals for social action projects. You will guide young people to make sure their social action projects are well thought-out and beneficial to the community. If you’re a professional with some community or voluntary sector experience, this is a great opportunity to give something back to Hounslow.
Volunteer Telephone Gateway Assessors – Hounslow Citizens’ Advice Bureau
The Citizen’s Advice Bureau gives invaluable advice to residents on issues like housing, employment and debt. Volunteer Telephone Gateway Assessors will be responsible for answering calls from residents and offering advice on these issues. English language proficiency and a commitment of two days a week required, full training provided.
Professional Visit for NCS – NCS The Challenge
Are you a member of a professional organisation that could guide young people into volunteering? Host an NCS team of up to 13 young people (aged 15-17), accompanied by a DBS cleared Challenge staff member for a 1 hour long visit to your workplace. Introduce young people to your organisation and provide feedback on their projects supporting local charities and organisations.
Volunteer Escort – Age UK Hounslow
Age UK Hounslow carries out enormously important work for elderly residents in the borough. Volunteer Escorts are required to assist these service users in their travel to and from Age UK’s day centre. You’ll help service users to access transport, and assist the driver with any logistical issues.
